Led creative strategy and digital experiences for GeekGirlCon during its transition from a sold-out, 12,000-attendee physical convention to its first fully online global event. Directed the creative and digital organization responsible for translating the GeekGirlCon brand into a cohesive virtual experience spanning 70+ hours of programming.
Creative & Digital Leadership
Led a 38-person multidisciplinary team across design, editorial and copy, web, social, video, merchandising, campaigns, and production. Directed creative reviews, established feedback and recognition systems, set KPIs, and conducted quarterly performance reviews while also serving as Interim Director of Marketing during the transition to online programming.
Building the Online Experience
Directed the creative pivot from an established in-person convention to a digital-first experience, maintaining a consistent brand across programming, broadcast, web, social, promotional campaigns, content, and audience touchpoints. Established the Twitch partnership and secured Affiliate status as part of the new digital platform strategy.
Connecting Programming & Audience
Worked across creative, marketing, programming, production, digital, and organizational leadership to turn more than 70 hours of convention content into a unified online experience while extending GeekGirlCon beyond the geographic and capacity limits of the physical event.
Impact
Successfully launched GeekGirlCon’s first global online convention and helped expand its digital audience by more than 50,000 people while building the creative systems and team structure required to support the organization’s move into virtual programming.
